Roadmap for the Employment Rights Bill

The government has announced that the Employment Rights Bill will likely receive Royal Assent at the end of September or the beginning of October 2025 which will signify the Bill’s passage into law.

The government has also now provided a road map to explain important dates regarding consultation on key measures in the Employment Rights Bill and when the measures will come into effect. Consultation is due to take place during Summer 2025 and continue to the end of the year.

The government has indicated that they will use either 6th April or 1st October for the provisions within the Bill to take effect from. Some provisions will come into effect at Royal Assent or soon afterwards and the remaining provisions will be phased in during April and October 2026 and into 2027.
