Employee Wellbeing
Wellbeing is an important part of an employee’s health and safety, it refers to their overall health, happiness and satisfaction within the workplace. It includes physical health, mental health, emotional health and financial stability.
Supporting employee wellbeing is important in creating a positive, healthy and productive working environment, where organisations are likely to see improved performance and morale. Prioritising employee wellbeing can also help reduce sickness absence, support staff retention and contribute to a more inclusive workplace culture.
The resources and guidance are available to assist employers in supporting wellbeing within their organisations, helping managers understand their role in promoting wellbeing and responding appropriately when concerns arise.
Mind – the mental health charity – has developed Wellness Action Plans (WAPs), a practical tool designed to help employees manage and communicate their mental health needs and concerns at work. For managers, WAPs provide a framework to encourage open and proactive discussions about wellbeing, supporting the mental health of their team members. You can access the Wellness Action Plan template and guidance on Mind’s website here.
The Hub of Hope is a comprehensive mental health services directory developed by the charity, Chasing the Stigma. It brings together details of local, national, community, and NHS services all in one place. The directory is free and completely confidential to use, allowing you to search by postcode to find support in your local area. You can visit the Hub of Hope here.
