Financial Awareness Day 2026

14 August 2026

Financial Awareness Day, held annually on 14 August, aims to raise awareness of the importance of understanding and managing your finances. It provides a great opportunity for employers to encourage employees to think about their financial wellbeing and highlight support resources they may find useful.

Financial pressure can affect anyone and may impact an employee’s wellbeing, concentration and ability to work. Employers can help by creating a supportive culture and encouraging employees to access appropriate support where required.

Employers can further support their staff by:

  • Signposting free, impartial support such as Citizens Advice, which can provide information and advice on issues including debt, benefits, household bills and financial difficulties.
  • Encouraging employees to review their income and regular outgoings to identify where they may be able to reduce costs or build savings.
  • Reminding employees of their workplace pension and encouraging them to check their contributions as part of longer-term financial planning.
  • Creating an open culture where employees feel comfortable discussing financial difficulties with their manager when they arise. Managers should listen without judgement and direct employees to appropriate support rather than providing financial advice.
  • Promoting any workplace benefits available to employees, such as employee discounts, private healthcare plan or an Employee Assistance Programme.

Why not share a “financial wellbeing check-in” with your teams, encouraging them to spend a few minutes reviewing their finances and consider whether they need any additional support?

Financial wellbeing should be considered as part of your organisation’s wider approach to employee wellbeing, rather than just a one-off initiative.
