International Equal Pay Day
18 September 2025

International Equal Pay Day takes place on 18th September 2025. This event draws attention to the gender pay gap globally and highlights the need for fair compensation for equal work.
The gender pay gap remains an issue globally. Below are some highlights from statistics for the UK released by the Office for National Statistics on 29th October 2024:
- The gender pay gap in the UK has been declining over the last decade, however in April 2024, while down slightly, it was still 7%.
- The pay gap is larger among higher earners than lower earners.
- The gender pay gap in Scotland is not as high as that of the English regions.
- The UK statistics base the gender pay gap on average hourly earnings excluding overtime and covers all jobs in the UK.
Equal pay is an important issue and if you want to support equal pay day then you can raise awareness by speaking to others, participating in events and sharing information on social media.
