Mental Health Awareness Week

8 May 2025

Mental Health Awareness Week takes place from the 12th – 18th May 2025 and this year’s theme is ‘Community’. Join the Mental Health Foundation as they share expert advice and guidance on how being part of a community supports good mental health. Listen to inspiring stories from communities throughout the UK and get involved with activities and events that help build mentally healthy communities. Further information can be found here

Being part of a community is essential for positive mental health as it helps create a sense of belonging, safety, purpose and support. There are many different types of communities including family, friends, colleagues and those who share similar interests and hobbies.

You can be part of more than one community and having a strong connection to others can provide a support network during hard times. It has also been found that people who are more socially connected tend to be happier, healthier and have fewer mental health problems than people who are less well connected.
More information can be found here on the Mental Health Foundation website.

As employers, we can play a vital role in supporting employees to maintain positive mental health in the workplace, as good employment practices can have an impact on staff health and wellbeing.
