QC Group Governance and Assurance Manager
Hours: Full Time (35 hours per week), Monday - Friday.
Role Overview
Queens Cross Housing Association is an award-winning social landlord based in the northwest of Glasgow. With 4,355 properties adjacent to the city centre and West End and the Forth and Clyde canal running through, it is a place where people are proud to live and to work. Queens Cross Group includes a Registered Social Landlord, a property management subsidiary (Queens Cross Factoring) and a social enterprise which lets commercial property (Queens Cross Workspace).
As part of wider succession planning, we are seeking to appoint a Governance and Assurance Manager across the Queens Cross Group. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Corporate Support, you will be responsible for providing organisational leadership for governance, assurance and business improvement. This is a broad, high-impact leadership role delivering an integrated assurance and governance service to the 4 organisations that form the Queens Cross Group, providing strategic and professional oversight to the Board, Executive and Leadership Teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide organisational leadership for governance, assurance and business improvement across the QC Group, ensuring regulatory compliance, effective risk management, and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Lead the development and delivery of an integrated Governance Framework covering Board and Committee support, statutory and regulatory returns, policy management, internal audit framework, and business continuity/resilience.
- Lead the development of the Assurance Framework to ensure it meets regulatory requirements (including the SHR Regulatory Framework and Standards of Governance and Financial Management).
- Own the corporate Performance Management Framework, drive cross-functional projects, and translate learning from performance, audits and reviews into tangible service improvements.
- Lead internal and external communications to protect and enhance QC Group’s reputation.
- Support the Company Secretary with Board/Committee administration, statutory returns, and governance compliance.
- Own the corporate Risk Management Framework and coordinate the internal audit programme.
- Lead proactive internal and external communications plans (including media, digital, website and tenant information).
- Manage a team of 4 employees and a budget of up to £150k.
- Oversee FOI/EIR/SAR compliance and data protection advice (with consultant support).
- Commission customer feedback surveys and ensure high-quality data for regulatory returns and performance management.
- Maintain professional awareness of sector best practice in governance, risk, assurance and regulatory compliance.
Essential Criteria
- 3 years minimum senior experience in governance, assurance, business improvement, quality assurance, risk or performance management.
- Experience leading corporate performance reporting and statutory returns.
- Track record of influencing at Board and senior leadership level.
- Experience in regulatory compliance and risk management.
- Confident communicator with excellent written skills for Board/Executive reports and presentations.
- Well-developed negotiation, persuasion and analytical skills.
- Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Competent in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage diverse functions, develop strategies, and influence organisation-wide decisions.
- Experience within social housing sector is desirable but not essential. We are interested in candidates who can demonstrate transferable experience in governance, assurance, risk management, performance improvement and internal audit from any sector.
