Bell & Higgins is looking for an experienced and motivated Maintenance Manager/Clerk of Works to join our team.
Our work is about more than completing repairs. It’s about delivering safe, high-quality projects and maintenance services, building strong relationships with clients and residents, and taking pride in the standard of every job. We’re looking for someone who understands the importance of getting the technical details right while providing a professional, responsive service.
This is a varied, hands-on role covering reactive repairs, void properties, planned and cyclical maintenance, contractor performance, property inspections, medical adaptations and property safety. You’ll carry out inspections, monitor quality, work with contractors and staff to resolve performance issues and help ensure properties are safe, well maintained and managed effectively. You should have experience from programming the job and taking it to completion.
You’ll also liaise directly with clients, residents and property owners, responding to maintenance concerns and complaints, keeping people informed and identifying practical ways to improve how work is delivered. Working closely with senior colleagues, you’ll play an important role in the day-to-day delivery of Bell & Higgins’ repairs and maintenance services.
The person we’re looking for
You’ll combine strong technical knowledge with sound judgement, excellent organisation and a commitment to delivering a quality service.
You should have a professional, technical or construction-related qualification, along with a track record in property maintenance or management. You’ll be confident working with contractors, managing completing priorities, taking ownership of problems and challenging workmanship or performance when standards aren’t met.
Just as importantly, you’ll be approachable, practical and solutions-focused. You’ll communicate confidently with clients, residents, colleagues, contractors and professional partners, and you’ll see work through from the initial issue to a successful outcome.
At Bell & Higgins, we take pride in delivering dependable, high-quality work and building lasting relationships with the people we work with. We’re looking for someone who shares that commitment and wants to make a positive contribution to our team and the properties we maintain.
You must have vast experience working with Housing Associations or Local Authority Housing and a proven track record of this.
A driving licence is required.
