We are a fully mutual housing co-operative and are thus managed by a voluntary, unpaid, management committee made up of tenants. We have 185 properties in and around Lauriston Place in Edinburgh, and since our inception in 1976 we have made significant and ongoing investment into improving the area.

Our vision is the provision of good quality homes for people in need in Central Edinburgh, building the community and enhancing the environment. We wish our residents to live safely and happily in our flats and to lead fulfilling lives, contributing in different ways to life in central Edinburgh.

We are also proud of caring for our wonderful historic housing and seek to preserve and enhance its heritage. We collaborate closely with the City of Edinburgh planners, Edinburgh World Heritage, Changeworks and other local amenity and community organisations.

We are seeking to recruit a highly experienced, motivated and suitably qualified Housing Officer to join our small team of dedicated housing professionals. We are looking for someone with demonstrable experience of working in a busy housing management environment. As part of an enthusiastic team, you will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality housing services to all of our tenants.

The successful candidate will ensure that all our areas of activities are carried out to the highest standards and are always conducted to meet with policies, regulatory, legal and good practice requirements. You should be capable of providing an excellent customer focused service to our tenants -

  • Allocations and membership
  • Rent and rent arrears
  • Estate management, tenant participation & community development
  • Effective management of neighbour disputes & antisocial behaviour complaints
  • Maintenance
  • General office cover and advice and assistance to tenants and others

You will have the ability to handle a diverse workload, be well organised, solution focused and possess a positive attitude with an ability to work flexibly and across the team. The post holder will be required to attend management committee meetings, and deputise for the CEO, carrying out relevant tasks where appropriate.

Experience of housing software (preferably HomeMaster) would be an advantage.
