Hours: Part Time (21 hours per week).

Located in Linwood, Linstone Housing was established in 1998 and owns and manages approximately 1600 properties, providing affordable rented and supported housing, as well providing services to a further 2300 owner occupiers.

We are seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic individual who will provide support to our existing Welfare Rights Officer.

Based in the Income Team and reporting to the Income Manager, the successful candidate will assist in the delivery of an excellent Welfare Rights Service to the customers of the Association.

The role involves providing an efficient, effective and high-quality advice and support service on all welfare benefit related matters to support our customers in maximizing their income and minimising the impacts of the rising costs of living.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated team player who will understand the importance of working with customers to provide excellent customer care and will make a significant contribution to Linstone’s aims and objectives in relation to sustaining tenancies, managing and preventing rent arrears and maximising rental income.

The ability to work accurately under pressure, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines is essential along with excellent computer skills and a flexible attitude.

The main responsibilities will include:

  • Provision of a front-line service to customers by telephone and in person (including home visits)
  • Assist clients to make accurate benefit claims
  • Recording and updating case files
  • Ensure income maximisation to assist in the prevention and / or reduction of rent and factoring arrears

The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate:

  • Relevant experience working within a welfare rights / benefits environment
  • A sound knowledge of welfare rights legislation
  • An ability to prepare reports and data on service performance
  • High quality communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good quality IT skills
