About the Role
Bridgewater Housing Association is looking for an experienced and motivated Finance Officer to join our Finance Team.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this is a varied and rewarding role that plays a key part in supporting the effective financial management of the Association. Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you will help ensure we maintain strong financial controls, meet our regulatory and statutory obligations, and provide high-quality financial information to support decision making.

This role offers the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the finance function including payroll, purchase ledger, sales ledger, rent accounting, reconciliations, management accounts, budgeting, audit preparation and financial reporting. You will also work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders, helping to deliver a professional, responsive and customer-focused finance service.

What You’ll Do
The successful candidate will:

  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure key financial processes operate effectively.
  • Oversee purchase ledger, sales ledger and rent accounting activities.
  • Process payroll and complete associated statutory and pension returns.
  • Prepare VAT returns and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support the preparation of management accounts, budgets and financial analysis.
  • Assist with year-end accounts and external audit requirements.
  • Act as a finance business partner to colleagues across the organisation.

Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who combines strong finance skills with a collaborative and customer-focused approach.

You will have:

  • Experience working in a finance role with responsibility for maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Experience of purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciliations and month-end processes.
  • Experience using financial management systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • The ability to analyse financial information and investigate variances.
  • A positive and flexible approach to working as part of a team.
  • A commitment to accuracy, confidentiality and continuous improvement.
