Digital Inclusion and AI Worker

Hours: Part Time (21 hours), 3 Days per week.

Govanhill Community Development Trust works for the social, economic and environmental regeneration of Govanhill. We do this through the provision of affordable local workspaces and a programme of community development activity. We are a wholly-owned subsidiary of Govanhill Housing Association – a community controlled registered social landlord operating in the Govanhill and Merrylee areas of Glasgow. The Association owns and manages 2,800 homes and provides a Factoring Service to a further 1,400 owners. It has a substantial Development, Major Repairs and Planned Maintenance Programme and delivers wider regeneration activity in partnership with Govanhill Community Development Trust

We are seeking a dynamic individual to lead an exciting programme to tackle poverty through AI tools and improving digital inclusion. Central to the role will be the creation of AI (Artificial Intelligence) avatar led videos, tackling different forms of digital exclusion and developing digital skills and employability in local people, particularly in relation to AI tools.

We are looking for someone who can take a community development approach and work with colleagues in Govanhill Hosing Association and GCDT to identify local needs and improve the accessibility of information. You will also have a level of enthusiasm for AI technology and finding ways to use AI to tackle problems. A key part of this will be using AI tools like Synthesia – for which training and support will be provided – to develop AI avatar-led, multilingual video content providing key information on education, employment, health and housing as well as local services and people’s rights and entitlements. You will work as part of a team developing local people’s skills and employability in relation to AI and helping them secure jobs in new sectors. You will also be part of work to develop an ethics framework around the community use of AI. You will use your creativity to help develop new and innovative projects exploiting AI technologies and other digital tools.

This is a new role which is funded on a part-time basis for a period of three years, with funding for the Virgin Money Foundation. The postholder will be supported by a friendly and dynamic team of community-based workers committed to improving the quality of life for local people.
