Living Wage Week

25 October 2019

The Living Wage is set by the Living Wage Foundation each year in November and is voluntarily paid by over 5,000 UK businesses. The living wage rate is higher than the government minimum standards because it is calculated using actual living costs for employees and their families.

The campaign for a living wage was launched in 2001 and has grown steadily since that time. It enjoys cross party support and has been backed by some key politicians. All accredited Living Wage Employers pay all staff directly employed by them the living wage and either pay or have a plan in place to extend this to regular sub-contracted staff.

Living Wage Week is happening from Monday 11th November until Sunday 17th November, with the new living wage rate being announced on Monday 11th November.

A hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay is a key message for ethical employers so why don’t you take the opportunity to get involved during Living Wage Week and promote the message to your employee’s and other stakeholders.
