Fit for Work Scotland
25 January 2018
In September 2015 the Fit for Work assessment service was introduced. The purpose of the service was to give both employers and general practitioners the option to refer employees for an occupational health assessment if they had been absent from work for a period of four or more weeks.
Due to the low uptake on referrals the Department of Work and Pensions have confirmed that the assessment service will come to an end on 31st May 2018. Beyond this date employers and GP's will still be able to use the existing helpline, web chat and website to seek advice and guidance in relation to sickness absence.
