Driving Licence Changes

10 July 2015

This summer the DVLA have brought in changes to driving licences that see the paper counterpart to the photocard licence obsolete.

The paper counterpart detailed any endorsements and penalties the licence holder had, and employers would use this to check if an employee's licence was valid for their role.

Employers will now need to use the electronic checking system set up by the DVLA to check the validity of an employee's licence, endorsments, and if there are any penalties which may impact the employee's ability to do their job.

Employers can only check the details with their employee's permission, where they will need to provide their employer with a code.  Details on this are available here
