£100 Smoking Fines

5 December 2016

Smoke Free
As of 5th December 2016, Scotland has joined England and Wales in banning smoking in private vehicles with any child passenger under the age of 18.

On the spot penalties of £100 could be increased to up to £1,000 if the case goes to court.

Latest research shows that the toxic particles can reach harmful concentrations within one minute of lighting a cigarette.

It is very important for everyone to be aware of the potential health impact children could be exposed to if they are forced to travel with a smoker – adults can choose not to, children cannot.
