Home working is one of several options for more flexible working, alongside others such as compressed hours, job sharing and term time working.
Home working allows an employee to carry out their duties from home rather than their workplace. Home working can be:
- Occasional (the employer agrees that the employee will spend most of their time within the workplace but may work from home from time to time).
- Contractual (the employee is based at home on a regular basis and the employer/manager has agreed this). For example, an employee is office- based 3 days per week and works from home the other 2 days per week.
