The UK has one of the best road safety records in the world according to Government statistics. However, one death on our roads is one too many and action must be taken to prevent deaths or serious injury.
Although the UK has an excellent road safety record, around half of all road related deaths involve a person driving in connection with work.
The Health & Safety at Work Act 1978 applies to all driving for work apart from normally commuting journeys. Therefore, employers have a duty of care to ensure as far as reasonably possible that their staff are safe while driving for work purposes.
