Recent discussions at our Joint Negotiating Committee have resulted in the EVH and UNITE/TGWU feeling able to jointly recommend a proposal on salaries for 2010.
In arriving at this position the employers took into account: the Union’s wage submission; the results from the recent EVH survey on salaries; the December 2009 RPI figure (2.40%); along with the continuing difficult wider economic picture for businesses and staff alike.
The proposal is as follows:
A one-year only deal which will see all salary points rise by 2.25% from 1 April 2010 and an absolute commitment that employers in Full membership will implement the Scottish Living Wage – also from 1 April 2010. (The Scottish Living Wage calls for a minimum hourly rate of £7.00 and enjoys widespread support from Unions, Employers, Churches, Charities and other institutions throughout the country).
The EVH Negotiators are recommending this deal to employers and I ask that all Full Members vote on this proposal. The closing date for receipt of returned Ballot Papers is noon on Wednesday 17 February 2010.
